Advice on hand for workers
The Employment Minister has said jobs and benefits advisors will be on hand to help workers at local firm Hughes Christensen, who have been left jobless following the announcement the factory will close.
Speaking last week sir Reg Empey said: “I want them (the employees) to know that my department has in place a range of services and provision on alternative employment opportunities, training and careers advice to help them through this difficult time.
“There is a whole range of information available, including advice about the options and support available to help them find another job.
“I can assure you that all efforts will be made by my officials to provide support for those individuals who have been made redundant and we will weather this storm together.”
He added: “Advisors in jobs and benefits offices, job centres and careers resource centres will be happy to assist anyone who is unemployed and seeking employment.”
