Alex Attwood makes meal out of it for homeless
Food destined to go to waste was transformed into a three-course Christmas dinner served up by gourmet chef Raymond McArdle with the help of Environment Minister Alex Attwood.
The cooking masterclass, in support of European Week of Waste Reduction, was hosted by the Northern Council for the Homeless and FareShare Island of Ireland to show how food destined for the dump could be put to good use.
Mr Attwood said: “This meal, made from ingredients which would otherwise go to landfill, shows how initiatives such as FareShare can make a real difference. FareShare receives perfectly good food and redis- tributes it to a network of community organisations that support homeless and other vulnerable people.”
