Traditional Unionist Voice leader Jim Allister has been elected in North Antrim without reaching the quota.

The hardline unionist took a seat on the ninth count after the elimination of the SDLP's Declan O'Loan, the husband of former Police Ombudsman Nuala O'Loan.

Mr Allister quit the DUP in 2007 in opposition to power-sharing with Sinn Fein.
