Almost 40 witnesses contact Police Ombudsman office over Orange Order parade CS Spray incident

Almost 40 people have contacted the Police Ombudsman's Office following disturbances at a Junior Orange Order parade on the Ormeau Road where CS Spray was used.

The Police Ombudsman has issued a renewed witness appeal following the incident on in south Belfast on Tuesday March 29.

The Office revealed that it has already been contacted by almost 40 people about the incident – during which a police officer discharged CS Spray.

A spokesman said the Office was keen to hear from anyone else who may have seen what happened or recorded video footage, whether or not they were involved in the parade itself.

He said: “The incident happened at around 5.10pm close to the Ormeau Road’s junction with Park Road, near the Ormeau Bakery apartments.

“We’re keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened immediately before, during and after the use of CS Spray by an officer.”
