Annadale Embankment crash: Two people fighting for life after south Belfast collision
Two people are in a critical condition in hospital after a two-car crash in south Belfast.
The collision between a silver-coloured four-wheel drive vehicle and a yellow Renault saloon happened on the Annadale Embankment at around 3pm yesterday.
Four ambulance crews and a rapid response paramedic reached the scene within minutes.
A man and a woman both in their 20s were rushed the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Two others were treated for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
The Annadale Embankment was closed in both directions between Sunnyside Street and the Ormeau Road. Investigators deployed a small drone to record the layout of the crash scene from the air.
Local councillor Declan Boyle said: "I was close by in the Holylands area when I heard a lot of sirens. It was the emergency services rushing to the crash scene."
Botanic councillor Mr Boyle said his first thoughts were of concern for the health of the four people injured in the crash.
A PSNI spokesman said: "I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either car in the area at the time to call the collision investigation unit on 101."
