Anthony McDonnell to face terror trial

A man is to stand trial accused of having vehicle registrations likely to be of use to terrorists.

Anthony McDonnell is also alleged to have had a notebook and cigarette paper containing names, dates of birth and addresses.

The 43-year-old, of Ardmonagh Gardens in the Ballymurphy area, faces five charges of possessing documents or records useful for terrorist purposes.

The alleged offences date back to December of last year. Preliminary inquiry proceedings were held at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday to determine if there is a case to answer.

District Judge Fiona Bagnall granted a prosecution application for McDonnell to be returned for trial at the city's Crown Court. The accused was remanded in custody until that hearing begins on a date to be fixed.
