Antrim scrap metal thieves jeopardise beach safety
Greedy thieves cashing in on the scrap metal market have stolen seven beach signs from beaches in and around the Bushmills and Ballycastle areas sparking widespread fear for public safety.
One of the stolen signs informed the public of ‘dangerous bathing’ at one beach while another - at the particularly hazardous ‘Black Rocks’ - was robbed leaving visitors vulnerable to dangers in the area.
Moyle Council will foot the bill of £500 left by thugs who have been condemned by local council members.
“Anybody stealing signs just to get a few pounds for scrap metal have to be condemned because it is putting life and limb at risk and people should report any suspicious activity,” Moyle DUP councillor, David McAllister told the Ballymoney Times.
