AP McCoy to make guest appearance at charity dinner for new Belfast Children’s Heart Centre building
Champion jockey AP McCoy is set to make a guest appearance at an exclusive charity dinner to raise funds for a new Children’s Heart Centre building in Belfast.
The Moneyglass man will reveal the inside stories about his life and career as one of the world’s most successful and dedicated sportsmen of our time as part of a fundraising campaign for the new dedicated centre for the care of children and young people with congenital heart disease.
Over two hundred babies are born with a congenital heart defect each year in Northern Ireland and many will have to face open heart surgery and ongoing treatment for their complex condition.
Leading Belfast restaurant, OX is also auctioning a unique opportunity to shadow head chef for a day to raise funds for the Children’s Heartbeat Trust.
Internationally renowned and multi award winning Head Chef of OX restaurant, Stevie Toman, has donated an exclusive experience to the fundraising dinner.
The highest bidder at the auction will spend the morning learning the ropes in a world class kitchen, before mucking in with the team as they prepare lunch.
Speaking ahead of the event, Lynn Cowan, Children’s Heartbeat Trust: “We are thrilled that OX and Stevie Toman have donated this one off, incredible experience as an auction prize for ‘An Evening with Sir AP McCoy’. Tony was the best of the best in his career, and OX has proven to the best of best when it comes to dining. We have no doubt that there will be a budding masterchef who will snap up this incredible opportunity to learn from one of the best.”
Billed as an evening with Sir AP McCoy, it takes place in Belfast City Hall tonight (Friday).
