Detectives have appealed for information after a 43-year-old man was assaulted in east Belfast on Monday night.

The incident occurred in the Greenville Street area, close to the Beersbridge road.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: "At approximately 9pm a 43-year-old male was assaulted and has received treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening."

"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101, quoting 1014 of 16/08/16."
