A man arrested after another was shot in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast has been released unconditionally.

The 49-year-old man was arrested after a man aged 30 was shot in the Cranbrook Gardens area of north Belfast on Friday evening.

Shortly after 9pm, the victim was shot in his upper body in a house in the area. He is currently in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries. His condition is described as stable.

The man arrested was released unconditionally on Sunday monring.

Chief Inspector David Moore said: "A car was seized and has been taken away for further examination.

"I would ask anyone with any information about this shooting to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
