Ards opens book of condolence

ARDS Borough Council has opened a book of condolence for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The book, available to sign at the Town Hall Arts Centre in Newtownards, offers local people a means of expressing their sympathies.

Mayor of Ards, Councillor Stephen McIlveen said: "Northern Ireland is home for many from the Philippines and as well as allowing people the opportunity to offer their sympathies to their friends and neighbours, the book provides a place for them to empathise with those who are suffering so terribly in the aftermath of a truly terrible natural disaster."

The book is available to sign in the Town Hall Arts Centre, Conway Square, Newtownards from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 4.30pm on Fridays and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday.
