Armed men rob Co Down post office

Two masked men armed with hammers have robbed a post office in Co Down.

The incident happened on Main Street in Ballywalter on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 10am, two men, both armed, entered the post office before demanding money and then making off with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Staff members were not injured during the robbery, but they were left shaken.

The suspects are believed to have fled the scene in a black coloured car.

A black BMW was later found burned out in the Tullykevin Road area of Newtownards shortly before 11am.

One of the two men involved is described as being around 5ft 7in tall, of a slim build and wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and dark coloured boots.

The second man is said to be around 5ft 10in tall and of a medium build. He was described as wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and black shoes.
