An armed robber made off with cash from a shop in Portadown on Saturday evening.

The man entered the shop on Thomas Street shortly after 8pm armed with what appeared to be a black gun.

He demanded a female member of staff hand over a sum of cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

The suspect is described as being around 5' 8" tall, wearing jeans and a green hoody with the drawstring pulled tight around his face. He spoke with a Belfast accent.

Detective Inspector David Henderson said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw this man or who knows anything about this incident to contact detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Ardmore Police Station on the non-emergency number 101."
