Arrest over coin attack on football star Chris Brunt
Police have made an arrest after West Brom's Chris Brunt was hit by a coin thrown by a fan.
The Belfast man was struck as he approached his own club's fans following Albion's 3-1 FA Cup defeat at Reading on Saturday.
Yesterday, Thames Valley Police wrote on Twitter that they had made an arrest.
They are treating the incident as assault while the Football Association is also investigating.
Northern Ireland international Brunt had walked to the away end to hand his shirt to a supporter, but went down clutching his face after being struck by an object.
He was led away by West Brom captain Darren Fletcher with an injury just below his left eye, after remonstrating with fans.
The club will not comment during the investigation but it is understood they are prepared to issue a lifetime ban to anyone found guilty.
The 31-year-old said he was "disgusted" at the attack, but said he is prepared to meet the individual who threw the coin.
