Arts and crafts owner to fight order of bankruptcy
The owner of a Belfast boutique specialising in arts and crafts from the province is set to challenge an order making her bankrupt.
A solicitor acting for Linzi Rooney, of Studio Souk, Ann Street, said the business would continue trading and was unaffected by the bankruptcy proceedings.
Glyn Roberts, chief executive of the NI Independent Retail Trade Association, said Studio Souk provided an important platform for independent retailers to sell their goods in the city centre.
It's understood that the petition relates to an alleged debt from unpaid rates at a former business premises of Ms Rooney.
The Northern Ireland Court Service said the petition had been brought by the Department of Finance.
Gillian Crotty, of Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors, said Ms Rooney would seek to overturn the order and that her client challenged the basis of the debt.
