As he and Courtney stay Friends, Snow Patrol star Johnny goes off in One Direction with Harry Styles
Snow Patrol star Johnny McDaid has teamed up with pop heart-throb Harry Styles, according to the latest pop industry gossip.
It is a change of course for Londonderry man McDaid, (39) who recently split from glamorous Friends actress Courteney Cox (51) - and an indication of the kind of music that is now exciting the One Direction idol.
Rumours have been rife that Styles (21) is set to split from the pop combo that made his fortune after their X Factor breakthrough.
His decision to begin work on a solo project with the Northern Irish star is the clearest indication yet that his One Direction days are numbered.
According to Hollywood Life, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (Ascap) released documents revealing that Harry has co-written four new songs on his own.
Ascap documents also showed that Harry has worked with McDaid and songwriter/producer Gary Go.
While McDaid's showbiz romance with Cox appears to be have run into the sand, Styles was linked with Kendall Jenner after pictures emerged of the pair on holiday on board a luxury yacht off the beautiful Caribbean island of St Barts.
There have been hints that the Snow Patrol star's break-up with comedienne and Friends star Cox may not be final.
According to Weekly Lifestyle, people close to Johnny think he is having second thoughts about ending things with Courteney.
"It seems like he really misses her," an insider told the celebrity magazine.
"They are reconnecting and talking, so he booked a flight to come back to Los Angeles and try and work things out with her.
"He really wants to give it a second chance and Courteney is open to that."
