Banbridge calls foul on dog owners' irresponsible antics
Banbridge District Council is showing careless dog owners - who let their pets foul the streets and fail to clean up after them - that it means business.
In response to complaints that specific areas of the town were suffering from dog fouling, the council announced a hike in fines from £50 to £80 for those who let their dogs poop, but fail to scoop.
Residents who allow their dogs to stray and wander the streets will also face a fine that will set them back £75.
The rise in dog straying fines came about as the council noted a direct link to dogs who foul in the street and those who are allowed to stray.
