Bangor eyesore to house beach volleyball court and a midnight cinema

A piece of land on Bangor’s seafront that was earmarked for a grand shopping complex yet lay dormant for two decades is now set to fulfil a more ambitious role.

The ‘embarrassing eyesore of Queen’s Parade', according to the Spectator Newspaper, could be converted to play host to an outdoor midnight cinema, a community herb garden, beach huts for town markets and stalls, a cage football pitch and even a beach volleyball court in conjunction with Harbour Ward Community Association and town management.

The newspaper revealed that plans are currently being drawn up by Bangor’s town management who hope that the innovative scheme will draw visitors back to the area.

Other plans for toilet facilities and electrical systems are also being looked at.
