BBC blooper over the Sports Personality of the Year shortlist
The BBC was left red-faced after incorrectly saying that the Sports Personality of the Year shortlist would be revealed last night.
On yesterday's Good Morning Ulster radio show, presenter Conor Bradford told listeners that the sports stars who are in the running for the award would be announced.
"The shortlist of contenders for the BBC Sport Personality of the Year will be revealed on the One Show this evening," he said.
But the plug for the show was one month premature, as they won't be revealed until November 30.
The ceremony will be coming to Northern Ireland for the first time on Sunday, December 20 and the night will see sporting greats from past and present gather in The SSE Arena, Belfast, to celebrate and look back on what has been a fantastic 12 months of sport.
The radio presenter then discussed whether any of the Northern Irish stars could make the cut for the award which goes to the sportsperson, judged by a public vote, who has achieved the most that year. Following the blooper, a BBC spokesperson told the Belfast Telegraph: "This was a diary mistake. The BBC Sports Personality Top 10 Shortlist will be announced on Monday, November 30."
