BBC building tours suspended after security breach
Public tours of BBC buildings in Northern Ireland and across Great Britain have been suspended after a recent "security incident".
Yesterday, a BBC spokesperson apologised for any inconvenience, but did not specify where the incident had taken place.
However, five people gained unauthorised access to a news studio in central London during a live broadcast at Broadcasting House on March 3.
In Belfast, tours of Broadcasting House on Ormeau Avenue include an exhibition on the history of BBC NI and the chance to step inside radio and TV studios.
"Following a recent security incident, the BBC is taking steps to review the security of its buildings," the broadcaster said.
"During this review period, all public tours of BBC buildings will be suspended. This will take effect from Thursday March 9."
The BBC said it would offer full ticket refunds to those with bookings.
