One of Londonderry’s oldest hotels is set for a £220,000 expansion in time for the tourism boom expected for the UK City of Culture celebrations.
Beech Hill Country House Hotel in Ardmore is hoping to build its international reputation further with support from Invest Northern Ireland.
Established in 1739, the manor house hotel acquired four-star status in 1991.
Beech Hill's expansion aims to meet the anticipated increase in demand for accommodation during Derry's high-profile year as the UK City of Culture 2013.
It comes as plans for six new hotels in the city also continue to gather pace, with many having already received planning permission and others at an advanced stage of the planning process.
Invest NI offered the hotel £35,000 towards the project.
Beech Hill owner Patsy O'Kane said: “The creation of four extra bedrooms will enhance our product offering and help us to meet the needs of international tourists who visit Northern Ireland each year.”
