Belfast baker talk of the town after sculpting three foot cake of Prince George
An amateur Belfast baker is the talk of the town after making a 3ft cake of Prince George.
Lara Mason (29), originally from Belfast, is already well known in the baking community for her life-size Katniss Everdeen in 2014, and has outdone herself once again at this year's Cake International Competition.
The competition takes place at the NEC, just outside Birmingham, and has seen bakers from around the world gather for their over the top cake creation including a life-size Yoda. It describes itself as "hosting the world’s largest display of competition pieces, demonstrators and industry experts from around the world to teach the newest trends, and stands full of those must-have baking and sugarcrafting essentials."
Her Prince George creation stands at nearly 3ft and took 30 hours to build.
"The feedback from the judges was they loved what I did," she told the BBC.
"But they wanted to see what I could do on a smaller scale because when it's life sized and you put it on the table, they can't see all the smaller details and the most important part on a human sculpture is a face.
"I thought I'd do a child. He's the most famous child in the world and especially cute as well and very, very current."
