A small bomb has been made safe in west Belfast, police have said.

The viable explosive device was discovered in the Andersonstown Road area. The find prompted a security alert and road closures.

Army Technical Officers were called to the scene. The bomb has now been removed for further forensic examination.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with any information about the incident to come forward.

The alert has ended and roads have reopened.
