A Belfast bound flight has landed safely after an emergency was declared on board while making an approach to the city.

The Jet2 flight from Palma airport in Mallorca was due to land at Belfast International Airport on Thursday afternoon.

Airllve reported an emergency on board a few minutes before landing at 2.44pm. They later reported that it was due to an engine fire.

However, there was no fire but an on board glitch caused a warning to activate.

A Jet2 spokeswoman said:  “Today’s flight from Palma to Belfast International Airport issued a precautionary alert to airport staff due to a false indication. The aircraft landed safely.”
