Belfast Lord Mayor backs 'youth Oscars'
Outstanding teenagers are to be recognised at a 'youth Oscars' event hosted by Belfast City Council.
Nominations are being sought for the Young People's Awards, to be held in March.
Lord Mayor Niall O Donnghaile said it was important to recognise teens who are challenging stereotype.
He said: "Young people have a vital role in our society and sometimes it can be difficult for them to make their voices heard. I feel privileged to be involved in the Young People's Awards which provide a fantastic opportunity for us to recognise the very successful work of teenagers across our city.
"These awards are about highlighting the positive work going on in communities, projects and initiatives that are reaping real benefits for everyone involved."
Nominations close on February 9. The awards will be held in Belfast's Waterfront in March.
