Belfast man accused of stealing £700 worth of adult toys
A man appeared in court today accused of stealing £700 worth of adult toys in a raid on a Belfast shop.
Gary McCann faces charges of burglary and theft over an alleged break-in at the store on Gresham Street.
The 26-year-old is expected to raise the issue of duress as part of his defence, a judge was told.
McCann, with an address at Bray Street in Belfast, was arrested by police investigating the incident on October 27 last year.
As well as being charged with the theft of adult toys, he is accused of stealing £800 in cash from the premises.
A police constable told Belfast Magistrates' Court that he could connect the man with the alleged offences.
Appearing in the dock dressed in a jacket, shirt and tie, McCann confirmed he understood the charges against him.
District Judge Fiona Bagnall was told there is a co-accused in the case.
Adjourning the case for five weeks, she requested a full update on the investigation.
McCann was released on continuing bail to return to court on February 9.
