Belfast man Luke Waudby in court charged with poisoning and threatening to kill woman
A man has appeared in court accused of unlawfully administering a poison and threatening to kill a woman.
Luke Waudby faces seven charges including unlawfully supplying Class A and Class C drugs and threatening to kill a woman between April last year and October this year.
The 20-year-old, from the Newtownards Road in Belfast, is also accused of assaulting a man and stealing cash to the value of £230.
Applying for bail a defence solicitor told Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Saturday that Waudby was arrested on Friday night and denied all the charges when interviewed.
The lawyer said although the charges seem very serious Waudby has drug addiction problems, autism and other mental health issues.
However, a police officer told the court that if he were released they believe he may interfere with witnesses in the case.
Refusing bail District Judge Bernadette Kelly said it although the charges were merely allegations it seemed “nigh on impossible” that conditions could be put in place to address police concerns.
Waudby was remanded in custody and is due to appear again via videolink on November 21.
