Belfast man shot in leg answering his door
A man has been shot in the leg as he answered the door of his house, police have said.
Officers are appealing for information after the shooting at Butler Walk in north Belfast on Tuesday evening.
At around 10pm the male occupant went to answer a knock at the door of his home.
Before opening the door he heard a loud bang and realised he had been shot in the leg.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not life-threatening.
PSNI Detective Inspector Peter Mullan said: "This is an appalling incident which has not only caused injury and distress to the male, but also significant upset and distress to his partner and their four young children who were at home during the incident.
"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101.
