Belfast peace line is in toon with the times
It was once a grim and towering concrete wall daubed with graffiti. But this west Belfast peace wall has been transformed with an explosion of vivid colour that has enticed a few princesses into the Sliabh Dubh estate.
Residents of the area off the Springfield Road are now greeted with the glorious cartoon images featuring the likes of Rapunzel and Merida, thanks to artist Danny Devenny, the Housing Executive and the International Fund for Ireland's Peacewalls Programme.
Sliabh Dubh is built backing on the interface of the Springfield Road.
The Housing Executive says the peace walls can be imposing, and the brightly coloured new Princesses mural greatly appeals to the local children.
