Police are treating an early morning stabbing attack which left a man seriously injured as attempted murder.

Three men have been arrested following the incident in south Belfast.

The 33-year-old victim was stabbed at a property in Dunluce Avenue at about 6.30am yesterday.

He was taken to Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital by ambulance.

A spokesperson for the Belfast Health Trust said the victim was in a stable condition.

Alliance councillor Emmet McDonough-Brown condemned the stabbing.

Detective Inspector Mary White appealed to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity to contact police.
