Belfast venues Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall to be run at 'arms length' by council
Two of Belfast's top venues are set to be run by council-owned companies.
The Waterfront Hall and Exhibition Centre and the Ulster Hall will be run under new "arm's length" arrangements following a vote by Belfast City Council last night.
A small group of protesters, fearful over jobs, demonstrated at City Hall to oppose the decision.
Press were excluded from the council chamber for around half an hour during discussions. However, when the meeting re-opened it was announced the council had voted against an "in house" management model for the two venues, instead opting for setting up a council-owned company.
