Belfast's Mount Vernon security alert a hoax - police following 'definite line of enquiry'
A overnight security alert in north Belfast has been declared a hoax with police indicating they have evidence pointing toward those responsible.
A suspicious object was discovered in the Mount Vernon area on Tuesday night at around 8pm.
Homes were evacuated and roads closed during the alert.
A police spokesman said it ended at around 11pm, he added: "Police are following a definite line of enquiry."
