Belfast's Rain Nightclub has licence renewed
A Belfast nightclub which was fined for overcrowding has had its entertainments licence renewed.
Belfast City councillors agreed to grant Rain Nightclub on Tomb Street a six-month licence.
The decision followed several meetings between the PSNI, council officials and representatives from Coral Inns which runs the popular club where concerns about safety, noise pollution and fly-posting were discussed.
Last February the council's licensing committee took the unusual step of revoking Rain's entertainments licence for seven weeks after breaches which were detected by Building Control staff during a number of inspections.
In October Rain's owners were fined £5,000 after pleading guilty to counts of overcrowding on January 30, February 6 and February 11, 2011.
Coral Inns director Ryan Morton said new systems of management have now been put in place.
