Thousands of Bessbrook schoolchildren have been 'planking' to raise awareness of World Suicide Prevention Week.

More than 2,000 people from St Paul's High School attempted to break the world record for the most people planking - lying face down in an unusual place - in one location yesterday.

The event was part of the Events Against suicide initiative being held by the mental health organisation Cycle Against Suicide Community.

Staff, parents, past and present pupils all lay on the ground with their body's weight borne on their forearms. Plankers were trying to spread the message of Cycle Against Suicide that "it is OK not to feel OK and it is absolutely OK to ask for help".

Cycle Against Suicide hold bike races and events to try to break the cycle of suicide.
