Children in Crossfire founder Richard Moore is set to become the first blind person to zipline across the Foyle in aid of the charity.

Londonderry Mayor Maurice Devenney will also brave heights of 170ft above the river at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour on August 20.

Starting at the Prehen Boathouse and finishing at the Foyle Road, the intrepid duo face a span of 1,300 feet of water.

Mr Moore was blinded by a rubber bullet fired by a soldier in 1972.

Dubbed a "hero" by the Dalai Lama, he hopes to inspire others to take part in the challenge.
