Veteran rowers from Belfast Boat Club made their annual trip to the British Veteran Rowing Championships in Nottingham last weekend.

Bright sunshine and light winds provided good rowing conditions and the Boat Club crews took full advantage, recording four first places and three second places from the nine events entered. This means that every member of the Boat Club contingent won at least one medal and several members won two or even three medals.

The women’s B and C fours both came second in their events and the women’s C 8 of Shauna Herron, Una Purdy, Alison Clayton, Rosey Bell, Colleen Frew, Mary Wells, Debbie Trainor and Lee Humphreys also won silver medals.

The next target for the club is the World Masters Championships, which will be held in Vienna in September.
