Bomb found in West Belfast 'designed to kill or seriously injure' police
A bomb discovered in West Belfast was intended to kill officers, police said.
One man has been arrested as part of follow-up searches after the recovery of the device in the Brians Well Road in Dunmurry on January 15.
PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Justyn Galloway said Army technical officers made it safe.
"This device was designed to kill or seriously injure officers serving the local community in West Belfast, but it was also left in a position where it could quite easily have killed or maimed members of the public had it exploded - showing a callous disregard for the safety of the local community.
"It is extremely fortunate that no-one was killed or seriously injured," he said.
Mr Galloway confirmed one man had been arrested.
