Botanic Primary School celebrates its 70th

Published 17/06/2009

Botanic Primary School celebrated the 70th anniversary of its opening last week.

Staff and students celebrated with an re-enactment of the official opening of the school which took place on June 9, 1939.

“Over the past number of weeks the pupils have been learning about the history of the school — looking at old pictures and comparing them to now, interviewing past pupils, looking at old documents, writing their memories of the school and their hopes for the future,” said Heather Harte, a teacher at the school who helped organise the event.

The celebrations also included visits from past pupils and teachers, a sing-a-long and the launch of the school’s new website
