Boy robbed and beaten in Co Down, court hears
A schoolboy was attacked and robbed of his mobile phone and £1 by men in Co Down, the High Court has heard.
The 14-year-old was assaulted with two friends, one of whom sustained head and facial wounds.
One of the suspected thieves was arrested on the basis of a witness description, a judge was told.
Karl O'Neill (27), of City Way, Belfast, denies a charge of robbery.
O'Neill's barrister pointed out that no identification procedure has been set up in the case.
Richard McConkey said: "The case against this man is extremely weak and may indeed, in due course, go absolutely nowhere."
Granting bail, Mr Justice McLaughlin commented: "The threshold in this case, whether there is a prima facie case, may not be passed."
