With heartbreak etched on their faces, the family and friends of little Eva Tomney carried the youngster on her final journey in a pink coffin.

Seven-year-old Eva from Keady, Co Armagh died at the weekend following a battle with illness throughout her short life.

The little girl, remembered lovingly by her family as "boisterous, bubbly and witty", was wheelchair-bound from the age of four due to cancer, but dreamed of learning to walk again so she could play with her brother Paddy.

Despite her courageous fight to regain her health, and the best efforts of all those who tried their best to save her, Eva sadly passed away on Saturday.

Her aunt Tracy Hughes said Eva was their "hero".
