Sullivan Upper School proved it has budding designers in its midst after Tony McCracken, 10, landed first prize in Connswater Shopping Centre’s Christmas Poster competition.
Talented Tony claimed the top spot by painting a colourful image of a Christmas scene, earning him the chance to have his work proudly displayed on a giant-sized poster site in Belfast. The drawing captured the joyfulness of two reindeers and the overall clarity of design made it a winner.
Tony also gets the chance to join Santa, who has set up home in a spectacular new grotto, for a special lunch in Connswater’s new food court.
Successful local artist and competition judge Nicola Russell chose Holywood Primary School pupil Andrew Elliott, 9, to win second prize after being wowed by his imaginative design of a snow scene. The image was seen as unique in its restrained use of colour and as a very mature representation of a traditional Christmas setting.
Andrew won £100 to spend on Christmas goodies and a free-entry ticket to Santa’s Grotto.
