Burglar attacks Belfast man with hammer: police appeal for information

A man who answered his door on Saturday morning was subjected to a vicious assault by a burglar.

Detectives in PSNI's Reactive and Organised Crime are appealing for information following the report of a burglary and assault in the Forthriver Crescent area of Belfast around 7.30am on Saturday.

Detective Constable Arnott said: “A man in his 30s was attacked by a male with a hammer when he answered a call at the door of the property early this morning.

“The victim was further attacked inside the property and received a number of lacerations to his head. He was treated at the scene and in hospital for injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening at this time."
