Burglar threatened to rape teen, court hears
An 18-year-old woman was woken from her sleep and threatened with being raped during a break-in at her south Belfast home, the High Court heard yesterday.
She was dragged from her bed by three intruders, one armed with a hammer, and also warned her house would be burned down, prosecutors alleged.
The raiders were said to have gone into the Marlborough Park property on the morning of December 23 looking for drugs.
Details emerged as one of the suspects was granted bail.
Sean Dowds (24) — who is not alleged to be the man who made the demands — with an address at Ladymar Grove, Belfast, denies a charge of aggravated burglary with intent to steal.
