Burglars steal medication from elderly woman in Downpatrick

Heartless thieves stole medication from an elderly woman during a burglary in Downpatrick on Sunday.

The woman, aged in her 80's, was confronted by the burglars at her home on Roughal Park at around 1.45am.

The intruders forced the woman to accompany them while they searched the house beforemaking off with a small quantity of medication and a watch.

One of the burglars is described as between 5’ 6” and 5’ 8” tall, of a slim to medium build with slight dark growth around face.

He was wearing a white coloured anorak with the hood pulled up and dark blue track bottoms possibly with a red stripe on leg.

The second intruder was also between 5’6” and 5.8” tall, of small build and was wearing a dark coloured anorak with the hood pulled up and dark bottoms. Both are believed to have been in their late teens or early twenties.

Detective Constable Megaw from Downpatrick Reactive and Organised Crime says detectives are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information.

They are especially keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a dark coloured pick-up truck, possibly used by the burglars, in the area. The number to call is 101.
