House searches in Omagh, Co Tyrone have led to police seizing drugs worth an estimated £80k.

Police said they found herbal cannabis and diazepam tablets, along with a significant amount of money believed to be the proceeds of crime.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged on several possession and drugs supply offences. He appeared before Strabane Magistrates Court on Thursday morning..

Inspector Scott Fallis stated: “This is a very significant seizure of drugs in the Omagh area, and one which must be welcomed. Selling drugs, regardless of what they are, within our community, and in many cases to our young people, is repugnant.

"Many young lives are destroyed by drug dealers preying on their vulnerabilities. Life-long dreams and aspirations disappear as dealers get people hooked on these substances, while they the dealers line their pockets with cash.”
