Car vandal says spiked drink led to his spree
A man accused of going on a car-vandalising spree may have had his drink spiked, a court has heard.
Jason Johnston is charged with causing criminal damage to 18 vehicles during an early morning rampage in north Belfast.
The 22-year-old, of Black Mountain Park in the city, was arrested shortly after the attacks in the Ballygomartin Road area on April 13.
A police officer said he could connect Johnston with the offences.
Defence solicitor Jim Hillis confirmed that his client had made admissions when brought into custody.
The lawyer said: "Unfortunately drink may have been spiked, which led to this nonsense."
District Judge Fiona Bagnall was told payment could be made as a potential way of resolving the case and asked the parties to come up with an overall figure and adjourned the case for two weeks.
