Caribbean Princess cruises in to boost city tourism
This is the impressive vessel that sailed into Belfast yesterday.
The Caribbean Princess weighs 112,894 tonnes and can carry 3,175 passengers and 1,200 crew. It berthed at Stormont Wharf. The ship has 11 cafes and restaurants, seven show rooms and lounges, five pools and was the first modern cruise vessel to have an outdoor theatre.
Caribbean Princess is calling 12 times in 2017, bringing 52,500 people to the city. Belfast is due to outperform cities like Liverpool and Cork in 2017 in terms of the number of visiting cruise ships.
This year the port will host a record 89 ships, and recent growth in the market has come despite delays in building a £15m cruise terminal.
Plans for the terminal were proposed back in 2013, but there has been little progress.
