Carl Frampton's wife Christine and Martin Rogan trade Twitter blows
The wife of champion boxer Carl Frampton and former Commonwealth heavyweight winner Martin Rogan have gone head-to-head in a Twitter slanging match.
'Rogie' was deep in discussion with a fan musing over David Haye's recent fight when it was suggested that the Londoner - a former world champion - had not been tested by his most recent opponent.
Heavyweight Haye secured the second victory of his recent comeback with a routine second-round knockout of Arnold Gjergjaj at London's 02 Arena at the weekend.
Commentators described the fight as a complete mismatch and Gjergjaj as "hapless".
West Belfast's Rogan said on Twitter that the bout was "excruciating to see". But Christine Frampton was not amused, and leapt into the ring to tell Rogan: "Pipe down would ya."
And after replying to tell the Lisburn lady that "you like to hear yourself", Rogan picked himself up off the deck and tweeted that "wee Barry Frampton unfollowed me after his wife's outburst".
That sounded like a cheeky reference to Frampton's manager, former world featherweight champion and Clones Cyclone Barry McGuigan.
Rogan followed through with: "I'm so sad... done me a favour."
Unafraid to hold back, Christine hit out: "He unfollowed you ages ago you illiterate fool."
As the messy scrap showed no signs of letting up, one ringside spectator described it as "more entertaining than the first half of the Quigg fight" - a reference to Frampton's big bout against Scott Quigg, which added Quigg's WBA super-bantamweight to the Jackal's collection of titles.
One Twitter user, Burgerman, scored Christine two rounds up, while another urged Rogie to "get his head in the game". "This isn't no Latvian Journeywoman," he added.
Not known for his subtlety in the ring, Rogie tweeted that Christine was "slabbering" and "no one likes you anyway".
"Bye," he added, as he headed back to his corner.
There would be no knockout blow, but a number of hours later a friend tweeted to Mrs Frampton that she was the one usually "having Twitter wars", rather than Christine.
Christine replied that she had "got myself blocked. Thank f***!"
North Belfast fighter Carl won the WBA super-bantamweight title after a split points decision against Quigg in Manchester in February, as well as defending his IBF belt in the much-anticipated unification fight.
Christine met the Jackal in Kelly's nightclub in Portrush in 2006. The couple have two children together.
'Iron Man' Rogan was the Commonwealth heavyweight champion in 2009.
