Caroline Wozniacki's dig at Rory McIlroy: I can wear high heels again...
Caroline Wozniacki has made a veiled dig at ex-fiance Rory McIlroy over his height.
The Danish tennis star posted a photograph of herself online wearing high heels during a shopping trip in Turkey, where she is competing in the Istanbul Cup this week.
"Out and about in Istanbul," she wrote alongside the picture.
"It's been three years since I have worn high heels on a normal day out."
Wozniacki is four centimetres taller than the major winning golfer at 1.79m to his 1.75m and the three years is believed to refer to the duration of their relationship.
She later deleted the online post from her account.
McIlroy, who is currently playing a stormer at the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, began dating Wozniacki in summer 2011.
The pair became engaged over New Year in Sydney, Australia, but in May Rory announced the end of their engagement and relationship, saying he was not ready for marriage.
The two-time Major winner and former world number one broke off the five-month engagement to the 24-year-old sportswoman just days after invitations for their wedding – believed to be scheduled for November 8 in New York – were sent out.
Both world number ones at the time they met, each experienced a dip in form during their relationship, amid warnings from veteran sport stars that they should concentrate on their careers.
Wozniacki crashed out of the French Open in the first round in May and reached the fourth round of Wimbledon last month.
In contrast McIlroy won the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in May, only days after splitting with Wozniacki. In recent weeks McIlroy has been linked to Irish model Nadia Forde.
Just days ago the Co Down man expressed concern about his rumoured love interest after she escaped serious injury in a car crash in Warwickshire.
It was reported she lost control of the Fiat 500 as a result of bad weather and ended up in the central reservation after flipping the small vehicle several times.
"Obviously if anyone's in a car crash you're glad to see that they're ok," McIlroy said.
"It was a pretty scary incident but everything's good."
Forde later told her online followers she was grateful for all the kind messages she has received since she was hospitalised for concussion.
"I'm fine... nothing a few hugs and hot chocolates won't fix," she wrote.
At Wimbledon, Wozniacki laughed off the idea that she might try internet dating, saying she was not 'desperate' enough to try it.
Since the break-up she has been photographed enjoying herself with friends, including fellow tennis star Serena Williams.
Story so far
Caroline and Rory met at the David Haye-Wladimir Klitschko boxing fight in 2011.
They then become engaged in Australia over the last New Year. In an interview published in May, Caroline hinted she was prepared to retire from tennis to become a mother. On May 21, McIlroy announced the engagement and relationship was over. "The problem is mine," he said at the time.
