A security alert in the Carrickfergus area is continuing as police and Army Technical Officers examine a car in Castlemara Drive.

Residents gathered in the area as a bomb disposal robot was sent to inspect a red Audi A4.

Inspector Trevor Atkinson said: “Police are currently at the scene of a security alert in the Carrickfergus area."

There are no further details at this stage.
